Funky Friday Feature: My Junk Drawer

Hello!! I am so excited to be a guest here today.

I am Kristen, from My Junk Drawer.

I am a born and raised California girl. I am married to a surfin' guitar playin' big kid.

We have 3 little kiddos who are always keeping us on our toes.

On top of all that, I am also a full time college student.

In my spare time (the little that I get) I like to create things.

Today I am here to share with you my fabric rosette.

It is very easy to make and makes such a cute hair accessory, but you can also make it into a brooch to wear on a shirt or a purse.

Here we go...

Step 1: cut out a circle of felt (that matches your fabric) just a tad smaller than you want the rosette to be.

Step 2: cut along the width of your fabric about an inch wide then tear a long strip of it (the width of your fabric).

Step 3: Put a dab of hot glue on the center of your piece of felt.

Step 4: Fold your fabric in half lengthwise and glue it down to the felt.

Step 5: wrap the fabric around your middle finger so it is able to twist easily for you.

Step 6: put a line of glue around the center following along the edge of the fabric (middle pic below)

Step 7: As you twist the fabric lay it down in the glue very closely to the other fabric (see right pic below).

Step 8: Continue to glue, twist and lay down the fabric.

Step 9: Once the felt circle is covered, glue around the edges (like the 2nd pic here)

Step 10: Trim off the excess fabric and fold the end nicely, then glue it down.

This is what you will have...

Repeat steps 1-10 to do a second rosette in a coordinating color.

Then attach them to a headband or a pin to add a little bit of cute to your outfit.

This is such an easy thing to make and always gets so many great compliments.

I hope you all enjoy making your own.

But just in case you don't want to make your own I am giving these two headbands away to one lucky reader!!
