Funky Friday Feature: My Girlish Whim

Hi there!
I'm Rebecca from My Girlish Whims and
I'm so excited to be posting at Funky PolkaDot Giraffe today!

I'm a 20 year old college girly girl who would rather be crafting then sitting in class any day! Over at my blog I love sharing my passion for beading, crafting, and general life as a girl!!

My favorite craft is jewelry making. My Etsy shop, Your Girlish Whims, is where I make handmade accessories to match all of your girlish whims! Here are some of the pretties in my shop:

Today I'm going to show you how to make this necklace!

Supplies:

-Chain
-Clasp
-Jump Rings
-Head Pins
-Cardboard
-Sheet Music
-Heart Punch
-Modge Podge
-Wire cutters
-Needle nose pliers
-Round nose pliers

Steps:

Step 1: Punch out two heart shapes out of sheet music (I used some left over from this project in which I had tea-stained the sheet music to make it look older!) and one out of cardboard.

Step 2: Using Modge Podge, paste the sheet music shapes onto the cardboard

Step 3: Using a hole punch (I used a really tiny metal hole puncher) punch a hole in the top middle of the heart.

Step 4: Open up a jump ring and put it into the hole.

Step 6: Coat the both sides of the sheet music with a couple more layers of Modge Podge. Don't forget to get the sides!

Step 7: Gather up a couple different beads. Make them into charms by putting them onto a head pin, bending the wire to a 90 degree angle with needle nose pliers, trimming off the excess with wire cutters, and then forming a circle with the round nose pliers. Attach all of these charm onto another jump ring and squeeze the circle shut with your needle nose pliers.

Step 8: Attach the jump ring with all the charms to the jump ring on the heart charm with another jump ring (jump rings are your best friends in jewelry making!!). Add a chain and clasp, and you are good to go!

Enjoy your new necklace!!

I'd love for you guys to come stop by and say hi at my blog. Thanks again Kyla for having me!
