New Beginnings: Seek the Sweet

At the beginning of each new year,
we have a program at church called New Beginnings.
It's a chance for us to introduce the new
twelve year old girls to our youth program -
or Young Women.

This year's church wide theme for the youth is the
Thirteenth Article of Faith
which says:
We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

From that fabulous declaration of what we are seeking
to be and become this year,
the awesome women I work with in Young Women
came up a fun theme for the evening
Seek the Sweet.

So I brainstormed with a couple of the ladies,
and we wanted a sweet shop feel for the decorations.
My friends Liz and Anjanette really were the geniuses
behind it all, but I try to lend help where I can.
I showed them Shelley's pictures from her daughters'
Sweet Shoppe Party - and we went from there.

It turned out awesome!

We used apothecary jars, vases, and candy dishes
to display one candy in each of the eight value colors.

I made the invitations, the jar labels, and this subway art poster.

It was a beautiful evening.
And the girls loved being able to dive into the candy at the end.
If you'd like to print your own poster to use at your events
you can find it HERE!
