New Beginnings: Seek the Sweet

At the beginning of each new year,
we have a program at church called New Beginnings.
It's a chance for us to introduce the new
twelve year old girls to our youth program -
or Young Women.

This year's church wide theme for the youth is the
Thirteenth Article of Faith
which says:
We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

From that fabulous declaration of what we are seeking
to be and become this year,
the awesome women I work with in Young Women
came up a fun theme for the evening
Seek the Sweet.

So I brainstormed with a couple of the ladies,
and we wanted a sweet shop feel for the decorations.
My friends Liz and Anjanette really were the geniuses
behind it all, but I try to lend help where I can.
I showed them Shelley's pictures from her daughters'
Sweet Shoppe Party - and we went from there.

It turned out awesome!

We used apothecary jars, vases, and candy dishes
to display one candy in each of the eight value colors.

I made the invitations, the jar labels, and this subway art poster.

It was a beautiful evening.
And the girls loved being able to dive into the candy at the end.
If you'd like to print your own poster to use at your events
you can find it HERE!

Lucky Printable: Somewhere Over the Rainbow

This week's winner of the Froggy Girl Designs $25 GC
is #21 Tiffany of Killing Time!
You have 72 hours to contact me!!!!

When I saw this cute project
my "cousin" Cory made for Valentine's Day
over at Sometimes I Craft Myself,
I knew I wanted to make something with buttons.I didn't get around to making anything for Valentine's day
and so then I had this great idea to make a button rainbow for
St. Pat's day.

But I didn't realize how many buttons it would take,
and I didn't have enough.
Lame.
And because I'm impatient
and didn't want to wait for more buttons,
I had the grand idea to digitally scrapbook one!

So I did!
And then I printed it at Costco,
put it in my seasonal frame,
added a ribbon shamrock,and now I have a fun St. Pat's decoration!
And because I love you all so much,
I'm sharing the printable with you!
You can download it HERE.
Inside that file you'll find a zipped file
with a 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10 size.

If you make one, I'd love to see it!
Happy St. Pat's!

What I {LOVE} Wednesday: Curly, Pretties & Yummies

{1} MOCHI! Have you had mochi creams?
So yummy! I like mochi on my yogurt at Yogurtland.
But mochi creams have the best of both worlds,
because they have ice cream inside them.
Yummers!
I get mine at the Korean market,
but Cory says you can get them at Trader Joe's.

{2} Fresh & Easy Sweet & Spicy Mixed Nuts
Oh my heck!
Fresh & Easy invited me to a OC blogger even
and I had the date wrong and missed it :(
But the cute rep sent me a care package
(more on that later)
and this yummy stuff was in there.
GO GET SOME!

{3} Being a curly girl.
I used to loathe it.
We call it the Terry Curl.
When you hit puberty, your hair girls.
It happened to me.
I fought it for years.
Easy to fight in dry climates like Utah.
Not so easy in humid SoCal & Iowa.
Now I embrace it.
DevaCurl set me free!

{4} The Button Button Bracelet by Lisa Leonard.
I must have it.
My birthday is coming up {hint, hint}.

{5} If you know me or have followed me for any length of time,
you know that I have a cupcake and mustache obsession!
This combines them both!
Thank you Finley and Oliver.
And this? Yes.

{6} My Vintage Pearl flower & circle necklace.
It makes me happy to have my babies close to me all the time.
